Handgun waiting period may be eliminated

MADISON - The state Senate will consider eliminating Wisconsin's 48-hour waiting period to buy handgun purchases.

The waiting period has been in place since the mid-1970s.

The republican sponsor of the bill to get rid of the waiting period says it was meant to allow time for background checks.
