Newswatch 12 visits state crime lab, expert highlights advancements in forensic technology

MADISON - Police and sheriff's offices around the country depend on crime labs to help them solve cases. But when the labs opened, science and technology wasn't as advanced, and couldn't provide definitive results.

"The methods today are so much better at identifying, you know, who the DNA profile could or could not have come from," says Dan Campbell, Forensic Scientist Supervisor for DNA at the State Crime Lab in Madison."
