DNR offers ice safety tips

WOODRUFF - Many of us enjoy ice fishing or snowmobiling, but we need to be careful when choosing a place to do those activities. The ice may not be as thick as it seems.

The Department of Natural Resources wants to remind people to be safe around ice, especially near dams and rivers.

"We always say there is no such thing as safe ice," said David Walz, Conservation Warden Supervisor for the Wisconsin DNR. "You know you go out at your own risk, so you just want to use some caution and precautions there."
