MERRILL - Firefighters quickly put out a grass fire near Merrill Saturday afternoon. The Merrill Fire Department got a report of a grass fire threatening two homes in the Town of Scott near Merrill around 1:00pm.
About a half an acre was on fire with one to two foot flames. Winds were light at the time of the fire.
The fire spread from a pile of scrap lumber being burned by the people who lived there.
