Gun-deer season closes, harvest numbers down

RHINELANDER - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wants a steady deer population. Too many deer can be bad for the forest. Too few can be bad for hunters. The DNR gets most of its information about the population when hunters bring deer in. Jeremy Holtz, DNR wildlife biologist, says they also get an early feel for harvesting totals. Full story: WJFW
