Hikers Enjoy Rainy Day Hike at the Catherine Wolter Wilderness Area

VILAS COUNTY - The Nature Conservancy protects more than 230,000 acres of land and water all across Wisconsin. One of the protected areas is right here in the Northwoods.

About 20 people took a hike through the Catherine Wolter Wilderness Area Saturday morning. They enjoyed themselves, despite the rain.

"We fed the mosquitoes mostly," joked Naturalist Guide John Bates. "We hiked a small loop trail, about 2.7 miles, in rain and had a great time amazingly enough. Rain shouldn't stop folks and it didn't us this morning."
