Local educators question political spotlight on Common Core standards

RHINELANDER - Most Wisconsin schools started preparing for the Common Core standards three years ago. The Common Core is a federal standard for education. States can voluntarily adopt the standards, as can districts. But if districts opt out, they have to create their own standards that will push students to pass the Smarter Balanced Assessment, a test based on Common Core. Full Story: WJFW
