RHINELANDER - A new national study shows the majority of young people get their political news through social media outlets such as Facebook. Researchers want to know how that change in consumer habits could impact our democracy in the future.
The Pew Research Center asked younger Americans where they get their political news. More than 60 percent said Facebook.
UW-Madison Associate Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication Chris Wells says researchers don't know if younger people's reliance on social media for news and information is a good thing or a bad thing since many traditional news outlets post their content on social media.
