Milwaukee police chief: Injured Wauwatosa officer improving

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn says a Wauwatosa police detective who was shot and wounded is improving although he remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Flynn also says a police dog found the suspect hiding in the basement of a home on Milwaukee's north side Saturday morning. He says the suspect, who has two felony convictions, was arrested without incident and was not injured.

And the chief says a $5,000 reward offer may have played a role in helping make the arrest. He says police got a good tip that the suspect was hiding in the basement.
