LAONA - The Blackwell Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center celebrated 50 years of the program near Laona during an open house Friday.
The center aims to help disadvantaged students who couldn't finish their high school education. They also train students for in-demand jobs. Those include trades like carpentry, labor, welding and others industries. Students like Cruz Biddle found out more about the center while he was at the Wisconsin Challenge Academy in southern Wisconsin.
