Technology helps find graves from asylum cemetery

GRAND CHUTE - Modern technology is helping researchers locate where residents of an Appleton area mental health facility were buried.

Peter Peregrine, a Lawrence University anthropology professor, brought students to the cemetery last weekend to conduct a geomagnetic survey of the grounds of the former Outagamie County Insane Asylum.

He will complete a diagram to show the locations of the lost grave sites. The last markers were removed in the 1970s.
