Wild rice harvester hopes his high volume processer can give process a 21st century upgrade

MOLE LAKE - A wild rice harvester in Forest County thinks he could change the way wild rice gets processed. He says his machine can save days or even weeks of work.

Arlyn Ackley built the electrical powered processer that uses revolving paddles in a 55 gallon drum to hull the rice.

Native Americans historically did this by dancing on the rice. Ackley remembers dancing the rice for his dad when he was a kid to remove the hull from the rice.
