Wisconsin nursing homes ranked above average in quality

MILWAUKEE - Nursing homes in Wisconsin are rated higher than the national average when it comes to quality care, but roughly one-fourth of the state's nursing homes are still getting the lowest ratings.

The Kaiser Family Foundation recently analyzed ratings for the state's nursing homes. While the methodology used to rate nursing homes is imperfect, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/1SOxKMe) the ratings can help consumers, and prod some facilities to improve.

Overall, 55 percent of the state's nursing homes received the two highest ratings from the federal government, compared with the national average of 42 percent.
