Sword slaying suspect declared incompetent

WATERTOWN - A 29-year-old man accused of killing another man with a sword in Watertown has been declared incompetent to stand trial.

Young Choi, of Watertown, wanted to represent himself at trial Friday in Jefferson County.

Dr. Kent Berney, caretaker of Choi after the incident, testified he believed Choi was incompetent to proceed with the trial, which the state agreed to.
